SUMMARY
Serve as subject matter expert on
firm practice management issues such as staffing, practice growth, and
succession and how they relate to different firm sizes. Maintain strong knowledge of firm practice
management and technical competencies such as auditing and attestation
(A&A), write-up, tax, consulting and specialties. Interact with committees and contribute to
the execution of PCPS strategic initiatives.
Interact with members and represent and develop Private Company Practice
Section (PCPS) member benefits, practice tools and resources for members. Monitor the profession, member’s top concerns
and lead in solution and opportunity identification for PCPS members.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Lead the development and relationship with the G400 Practice Advisory Group, G400 reps and all G400 firms, including meeting success metrics and overall satisfaction with G400 visits and the annual G400 meeting
· Develop,
review and/or adjust targeted content and tools for PCPS members, including a Resource
Center to support PCPS members with staffing issues (PCPS Human Capital Center),
and/or support to PCPS members with growing their practice (PCPS Practice
Growth Center).
· Serve
as staff liaison for committees and task forces, including meeting planning and
facilitation, minute and action item management, coordination of committee
activities and ensuring committee and task force satisfaction.
· Participate in the portfolio process by
identifying, gathering information and collaborating with others regarding
member needs and provide differing firm size perspective.
· Serve as subject matter expert in publications and communications,
including reviewing and providing final approval on articles and publications
related to firm practice management.
· Work independently to develop, produce and/or review content for
tools/resources and review marketing and member messaging to ensure
consistency and alignment with value propositions for various firm size
segments.
· Oversee and deliver consistent, timely member
service, including responses to member inquiries; assist with providing
guidance and responses to internal and external inquiries, e.g. technical
questions, practice management questions, product development, advocacy issues.
· Review communication and web trends to analyze
member needs and respond; plan topics and timing of publications and maintain
web content.
· Assign staff liaisons for committees and task
forces, including meeting planning and facilitation, minute and action item
management and ensuring committee and task force satisfaction; participate as
necessary.
· Continue to build upon the relationships
developed and partner with key influencers and key constituencies such as Firm
Groups, State Societies, Firm Associations and SBA in meeting member needs and
promoting PCPS supportive tools.
· Monitor, conduct research and participate in
advocacy efforts, including identifying advocacy issues.
· Manage and attend firm leader networking groups
for various size firms as the subject matter expert in practice management
· Manage and perform regular webcasts and
podcasts on CPA firm practice management topics
· Bring ideas and observations to the PCPS team
and committee for consideration and provide conference and education input.
· Build relationships with applicable AICPA
teams, such as Business & Industry and Academic & Career Awareness,
ML&C, state societies and related CPA associations.
· Keep current on developments in the accounting profession both
nationally; monitor and stay abreast of hot topics and emerging issues in the
profession and what it means for different firm sizes.
· Lead others on projects, monitor and assign
work; coach and mentor others and develop work plans as needed.
· Demonstrate a global perspective of PCPS projects by taking a
broader, more critical view of projects, by seeking to understand the links and
potential synergies between the individual projects, those of the entire
PCPS/Firm Services team and other AICPA teams and work together to support
AICPA overarching goals; and by scanning the environment and profession trends
to determine their impact on PCPS team projects and mission of PCPS.
- Demonstrate leadership of direct reports by providing proper coaching and setting direction for projects and determine strategy and action items.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Extensive knowledge in communicating clearly and accurately in a way that is easily understood, regardless of the medium; adjusting style and content to appeal to the specific needs and comprehension level of the audience.
- Extensive knowledge in pursuing and cultivating business relationships, partnerships and alliances internally and externally; leveraging network relationships to gather market intelligence and maintaining organizational relevancy.
- Extensive knowledge in using professional expertise and business experience to influence and persuade a wide range of audiences on issues important to the profession.
- Subject matter expertise in using business process improvement tools and techniques to understand, monitor, update, or enhance existing business or work processes.
- Subject matter expertise in firm practice management and issues by firm size
- Good working knowledge of the regulatory and standards landscape
- Good working knowledge with accounting discipline subject matter and the typical CPA/client relationship
- Extensive knowledge of unique attributes of different firm size segments
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability to travel on a frequent basis
EXPERIENCE
REQUIRED
· Minimum of 8-10 years’ experience
in a CPA or professional services firm or a Firm Administrator with 10 years’ experience in working at a CPA firm
EDUCATION REQUIRED
·
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or
related field
·
CPA
designation
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION PREFERRED
· Active in AICPA and/or State Society and/or AAA
· Relevant experience at the AICPA is taken into
consideration as an alternative to work in a professional services firm.
