Lead Manager - College Student Recruitment & Digital Experience

SUMMARY

Lead initiatives and programs to recruit students and CPA Exam candidates to join the CPA profession and become affiliated with the AICPA as members. Increase AICPA’s on campus presence, leading to growth by collaborating with internal and external parties and establish the AICPA as the professional home and key resource for students and CPA Exam candidates for the duration of their CPA career.   

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage recruitment programs and initiatives for the AICPA among college students and CPA Exam candidates (40%) 

·    Support the creation of innovative programs, products and services that attract, educate and inspire talent college students to the accounting profession by engaging students in the concept of majoring in accounting, becoming licensed and joining the AICPA as a full voting member

·    Explore the development of new recruitment resources to promote careers in accounting to target audience segments

·    Manage, edit and maintain content and features for the AICPA’s website for college students and CPA Exam Candidates, ThisWayToCPA.com, including oversight of content curation and development by internal staff, strategic partners and freelance writers.

·    Serve as contact for website vendor relationships for maintenance and new development of ThisWayToCPA.com

·    Oversee brand and website-related projects as well as newsletter and social media efforts supported by the Associate Manager, College Student Initiatives.

·    Drive active participation and engagement in AICPA’s on campus programs and initiatives, including but not limited to student accounting competition(s) or campus ambassador programs.

 

Membership [20%]

·    Lead and implement strategies and tactics to promote AICPA membership.

·    Support the AICPA’s joint venture designation, Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) by creating strategies and programs that increase students’ understanding of the CGMA credential and international CPA opportunities, including digital, print communiques, interactive tools and live events.

 

Communications & Marketing (15%)

·    Research, propose and implement strategies and tactics to position the ThisWayToCPA brand as the key resource for students and CPA Exam candidates for information about the CPA profession, exam, licensure, career tools and education.

·    Promote knowledge-sharing and create systems for ensuring colleagues throughout the AICPA and external entities are aware of and appropriately involved in key developments and issues impacting College Student Initiatives, the Students, Academics and Inclusion department and AICPA operations and goals.

·    Lead and supervise communications and content strategy for new and existing programs including but not limited to the student newsletter, emails, social media and digital and/or print promotional ad campaigns.

·     Increase audience engagement on ThisWayToCPA by leading effective communications and marketing campaigns

·     Co-develop press releases for program announcements with AICPA Communications team and respond to or perform interviews for College & University initiatives related inquiries from external media.

 

Partnerships and Strategic Relations [15%]

·    Engage and build relationships with key strategic partners and influencers to aid our mission and champion the profession

·     Build strategic relationships and represent AICPA as an ambassador with key partners including but not limited to state CPA societies Beta Alpha Psi, TACTYC, NABA, Ascend, ALPFA, Robert Half and the National Commission on Diversity and Inclusion to aid in AICPA’s mission and champion the profession.

·    Manage agency relationships related recruitment programs, communications and marketing efforts

·    Strengthen relationships with state societies related to student and educator networking, best practice sharing, brainstorming and advocacy through virtual meetings, online communities and in person events.

 

Supervision [10%]

·     Supervise social media efforts, website performance and updates, newsletter distribution, content management (ThisWayToCPA and AICPA.org)

·     Conduct interviews, monitor and assign work, coach, mentor and develop employees; develop work plans and conduct performance evaluations.

 

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Associate Manager, College Student Initiatives

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

 

·    Familiarity with accounting practices, trends, and regulations; able to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations with provided instruction

·    Uses professional expertise and business experience to influence and persuade a wide range of audiences on issues important to the profession

·    Extensive experience in developments and trends related to the processes, techniques and specialized sources used to identify and promote membership

·    Working experience with performing tasks and identifying efficiencies related to the pursuit and cultivation of business relationships, partnerships and alliances internally and externally; develops a broad base of relationships by seeking individuals inside and outside of the organization

·    Working experience with performing tasks and identifying efficiencies with procedures, tools and logistics needed to launch and administer a variety of programs and initiatives targeted to potential new members

·    Extensive experience in developments and trends related to the organization's business model to develop strategies for promotion and publicity of AICPA's products or services in the marketplace

·    Extensive experience in developments and trends related to structuring use of time to developments and trends related to the organization's current and potential future uses of the World Wide Web, the Internet, Intranets, Extranets, etc.

·    Strong organization and prioritization skills

·   Ability to maintain confidential information

·   Customer service

·   Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel

·   Ability to work in a team environment with changing priorities

·   Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills in writing, speaking and formal presentations

·   Ability to interact with the media on education/recruitment issues

·   Ability to travel

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

·   Six to seven years’ experience in related field

 

EDUCATION REQUIRED

·   Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, marketing, communications or related area

 

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION PREFERRED

·   Knowledge and/or experience in accounting education and / or in the accounting profession

·   Experience in association management

·   Master’s degree in accounting, business, marketing, communications or related area strongly preferred

·   CPA or other accounting credential
